You have a right to know what information is collected by Tiro Typeworks, and by third party services whom we use, when you visit our website and purchase font licenses through our online store. This privacy policy explains the types of data that are collected in different interactions, and how it is stored and used.
Tiro Typeworks reserves the right to modify and update this privacy policy without notice. Should you have any questions, reach out to us at admin@tiro.com.
What information do we collect when you make a purchase? #
When you license fonts or make other purchases through our online store, some personal and identifying data is necessarily collected. This consists of
- Licensee name
#(the individual, company, or institution that will legally own the license) - Licensee address

#(the name of the individual responsible for font licensing) - Contact role
#(that person’s role at a company or institution; this is helpful in identifying a replacement contact if that person leaves the company or institution) - Email address #

If purchasing a license on behalf of another party, you are required to confirm that you have appropriate authority to do so including authority to provide licensee information to Tiro Typeworks.
Tiro Typeworks does not collect any payment details. Payment for purchases is processed by our electronic payment provider, Stripe. For details of what information is collected by Stripe and how it is used, please see Stripe’s Global Privacy Policy.
What information do we collect if you opt to be receive communications? #
When you opt to receive announcements, promotional offers, or occasional newsletters from Tiro Typeworks via email, we collect only an

How and where is your information stored? #
Information collected is stored on the Heroku platform, hosted on Amazon servers in the US or EU, using the jawsDB database plugin. Please see links for relevant data security and privacy policies. During website development, backups of the database may also be made to local encrypted drives or to an encrypted cloud service.
Is your information disclosed to third parties? #
No. Information collected by Tiro Typeworks is never sold or otherwise disclosed to any third party, except as required by law on receipt of a valid court order or warrant.
What interactions are stored when you visit our website? #
We use a small number of ‘cookies’ to manage interactions when you visit our website. No tracking cookies are used, and all use of cookies is compliant with data security legislation including the Canadian Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act and the EU General Data Protection Regulation.
The cookies we use, or may use in future, are of three kinds:
- Strictly necessary cookies #
Used to maintain a session when a you choose to log in/register to the site, or to do something related to that, e.g. maintain the items in your cart. Used to manage repeated interactions, e.g. autofilling of username or default language settings. - Statistics cookies #
Not currently implemented. Used to compile site analytics, e.g. number of unique visitors, pages visited, etc..
We do not use any marketing cookies. Please note, however, that embedded content on the site, e.g. YouTube videos, may use widgets that employ third-party marketing cookies.
